IVS-2024 Award for Technical Skills

 

The 2024 IVS Excellence Award for Technical Skills recognizes technicians who hold a technical degree.


The Israel Vacuum Society (IVS), Science, Technology and Applications, will award the IVS Excellence Award for Technical Skills in the upcoming IVS Meeting.

A monetary prize and a commemorative plaque will be presented to the winner at the IVS Annual Meeting —October 28, 2024.
 

Eligibility

This award is directed to technicians, who hold a technical degree.

This award is not open to Ph.D. scientists working in the field of surface science (even if in a technically-oriented position). Such individuals are encouraged to apply for the surface science expertise award, if relevant.

  • Nominations may be made by IVS members in good standing. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

  • Prior nomination does not exclude a candidate from consideration in subsequent years.

  • The nominee should have at least five years of experience in the relevant areas.

  • The nominee must be a member in good standing with the IVS on the date the prize is received.

  • The prize will normally be given to an individual nominee, however, multiple prizes may be considered in exceptional cases.

  • Employees, officers, and current members of the executive committees of IVS and its affiliate societies are not eligible.

 

Nomination Procedures

All nominations must be received by June 30, 2024

The nominator should provide:

  1. Name, position, institution, professional address and e-mail, professional phone and fax, home address, and home phone number.

  2. Short CV.

  3. A one-sentence synopsis of the reasons for selecting the nominee.

  4. A statement (up to one page) describing the work for which the prize is proposed and indicating the role of the work in solving particular scientific problems and the significance of the problems. The candidate's individual role in collaborative research should be clearly stated.

  5. A list of at least three supporting individuals (at least one who is not an employee at the institution of the nominee). The IVS reserves the right to contact the supporters to get more information on the candidate.

  6. Documents (patents, technical reports) that may support the candidacy of the candidate.

 
The submitted material will not be returned to the nominator.

 

The Awards Committee

The awards committee and the chair of the committee will be appointed by the  IVS president. All decisions made by the committee will be final.

Email title should be: “The IVS-2024 Excellence Award for Technical Skills”.

The nominator will receive an email confirmation of receipt of application material​.
