Cathodoluminescence Nanoscopy of Plasmonic Structures

Abstract


We used cathodoluminescence and second harmonic generation to map local electric fields of well-defined plasmonic structures and 3D disorder metallic networks. The disorder plasmonic network is characterized by mixed eigenmodes with fluctuating frequencies and intensities at subwavelength distances, reflecting its topological complexity. A correspondence between morphology and hotspots location is found only in a case of welldefined plasmonic structures or in the presence of a large defect in the metallic network. The network connectivity, its local density of states and energy propagation through the network are discussed as well.
