Prof. Menny Shalom (BGU)

Menny Shalom completed a BSc in chemistry summa cum laude at Bar Ilan University in 2007. He conducted his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Arie Zaban at Bar Ilan University. Afterward, he did a postdoctoral research in Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI), Germany together with Prof. Markus Antonietti. At 2013 he was appointed as a Group Leader at MPI. Menny Joined Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Department of Chemistry in October 2016. Menny research is focused on several fundamental scientific topics, ranging from new synthetic methodologies for 2D metal-free materials, sustainable solar to fuel conversion and the development of new materials and concepts for clean fuel production (e.g. hydrogen and carbon based fuels) by using photoelectrochemical cells and electrocatalysis. His undergraduate honors include Bar Ilan University’s Dean and Rector Awards for outstanding students and the Wolf Foundation Award. He received several award such as the Wolf Foundation Award for master and PhD students, the Israel chemical society (ICS) prize for outstanding PhD student, Israel sustainable energy society prize for the best PhD thesis, Minerva fellowship for postdoctoral research and Toronto prize Excellence in Research for young faculty members.
